These photos were taken in mid-December 1998 at the Galway Lake Road site along the Emerson Fault. See our earlier work on this site in this paper:
Arrowsmith, J R. and D. D. Rhodes, Original forms and initial modifications of the Galway Lake Road scarp formed along the Emerson fault during the 28 June 1992 Landers, California, earthquake, Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 84, 511-527, 1994.

We also have a link with a photographic study that may provide evidence for variable slip directions with time in the Landers Earthquake (note that it loads slowly!).
